Sierra Tagman

Hi! My name is Sierra Tagman and I did a UF Exchange Program to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem for the Spring 2022 semester followed by a Non-UF Program at the Arabic Language Institute in Fez, Morocco for the Summer semester. Both of these programs were so rewarding in different ways. Living and learning in Jerusalem allowed me to gain a more thorough perspective of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict through hearing firsthand accounts and experiencing the city itself. My summer in Fez, Morocco studying Arabic for 6 weeks started off with a bump in the road with some torn ligaments in my knee, and having to crutch around in 100+ degree heat with no A.C. definitely proved a challenge but the program was extremely helpful and accommodating. I eventually moved in with a host family in the Medina, which was definitely the highlight of my experience, specifically cooking shakshouka with my host mother and watching SpongeBob in Arabic with my little host brother.
