Sam Bullard

Hey! My name is Sam, and I was a part of the Japanese Culture in Place program during the Summer of 2023. Since high school, I've really enjoyed reading literature from all over the world-- I believe that novels give us a unique window into other cultures that we just can't get with TV and movies. I always felt the strongest connection with Japanese literature, and that's what motivated me to study abroad in Japan. The four weeks I spent in Tokyo and Kyoto were some of the best of my life, not only because I got to explore amazing cities and see the places I had read about for years in books, but because I got to do it all alongside the other amazing students on my program. I know it's cliche, but you really do make some amazing memories on study abroad, and I think everyone should experience it at least once.
