My name is Mia Bieringer, and I am a 4th-year Public Health major. I studied abroad in Cusco, Peru, with the UF in Cusco - Honors Scholar program in Summer 2023 and in South Africa with the UF in South Africa - Honors Scholars program in Summer 2023. Finally, I studied at Anglo-American University in Prague, Czechia. As a first-generation Korean immigrant, I've always had a deep appreciation for different cultures and a passion for international experiences. Being an immigrant has shaped my perspective and instilled in me a respect for diversity and the power of cross-cultural connections. Although studying abroad can be scary at first, it challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and adapt to new environments. It helped me become more independent, open-minded, and culturally aware. Because studying abroad had so many positive impacts on me, I want to give back and support my fellow students and peers in achieving their study abroad goals.
