About Me:

Hello! My name is Katelyn (she/her/hers). I studied abroad Fall 2020 during my junior year, at Korea University through the Warrington College of Business Exchange Program. I decided to study abroad because I saw this as an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in the rich culture of another country by living there as a fellow local for a few months. I can’t imagine another opportunity to do this after graduation when my life becomes more busy and finances become tighter. As an information systems major I wanted to choose a country that is technologically advanced and could provide opportunities to develop more real-world experiences. I find it important to understand how to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds, so I was also looking for a city in a country that allows me to meet and interact with people from all over the world. Learning international business at a prominent international institution opened by eyes to many views and learn beyond the borders of the United States. I met amazing people and created great connections from all over the world. If I had not chosen to study at Korea University I would not have met the wonderful friends I made while I was there. This unique experience opened the doors to so many internship opportunities when I returned home. What is so beneficial about studying abroad is the fact that everyone will have the opportunity to expand their perspective no matter what country they choose. There are plenty of things to learn and experience at UF, but it is extraordinary to have the opportunity to experience what college is like overseas, and nothing compares to the astounding sights and cultures you will see abroad. I will forever have these amazing memories of hiking a mountain, seeing beautiful waterfalls, and ice skating on the roof of a skyscraper overlooking the city skyline.
